Sacramento MA History

Several Marijauna Addiction 12 Step Groups met in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1989 to form Marijuana Anonymous.
In 2004 the first local MA meeting began at UC Davis - moving off campus the next year to the Unitarian Church of Davis. By 2006 the Davis meeting migrated to Sacramento at Kaiser near Cal Expo.  Partly because Kaiser couldn't designate a fixed room, the meeting moved to the United Central Methodist Church (UCMC) at 53rd and H St. where another meeting had already started. In 2008 these meetings joined to become the Keep Off The Grass Group. Also in 2008, two separate meetings began at the Church of the Nazarene on Arden Way on Tues and Thursday, and they have become the Beyond Your Wildest Dreams group.

In May of 2011, the Greater Sacramento Area (SacMA) was officially recognized by Marijuana Anonymous World Services. Our standing in World Services is District 18.
